COASTAL BIOGEOCHEMISTRY

Biogeochemistry can help us understand how matter and elements are cycled through ecosystems. By utilizing state-of-the-art sensors, my research focuses on how carbon flows through different reservoirs in the form of carbon dioxide and methane. While coastal ecosystems make up a small proportion of the ocean, they disproportionately contribute to fluxes of these green house gases. I am also interested in understanding the drivers of coral reef net ecosystem calcification and how it will be affected by climate change.
